age this buck....

location?

Virginia, foothills

I'm far from an expert but I'll go 3.5. He looks older than that in the photos but too me the teeth don't scream old deer.

Yes looking at the pics I thought he was at least 4. He would be above average for a 3 year old in both body and antlers for my area, and unheard of (in my experience) for a 2 year old.

But every indicator on that jawbone seems to put him at 2 years old. Light wear even for a 2 year old. So is the jawbone just an anamoly....or did I just prematurely take a buck with tremendous potential? If I saw this post I would probably think it was the wrong jawbone, but I pulled it myself. I guess this is a first world problem....lol

Nobody else wants to take an educated guess at this?

readonly are you going to send a tooth in for aging?

Yes, I will send in the teeth. The last few years I have been getting either I know are mature (photo history) or that appear mature, but then the jawbone looks young. But this one takes the cake. I will send them off soon to see if that adds any clarity.

Here's the kill pic to confirm it's the same buck

Please let us know how old they say it is.
