Ag Spray 65 Gal UTV Sprayer Experience

Not certain.....but the pump and manifold assembly resembles that of a FIMCO.

I bought a 50 Gallon UTV sprayer from Master MFG.....and it has fewer valves and fittings....yet provides the same functions (wand and boom applications). Not sure how these brands compare side to side.....but look like they both promote similar features. I like mine.

I ordered 1 of the Master Mfg 50 gal sprayers back in May. They pushed the ship date back 5 times and on Monday could not tell me when it would ship so I cancelled the order.

I just bought an Ag Spray 25 gallon tank a few weeks ago. I went with them because I THOUGHT I might be getting a little better quality.

But it seems they're all pretty much the same to me. Shurflo pump, Fimco looking parts. No idea who made the wand (I got the cheape one) Tank is just a rotomolded tank like all the others, just a different color.

Yeah.....I had ordered one at Northern Hydraulics......and it did not ship in the time promised. I was pretty frustrated as I needed to spray stuff.....and my FLIMCO was broken. Then I saw one at the Mimbach farm store.....and bought it and cancelled my order with Northern Hydraulics. I saved a few hundred bucks in shipping costs too. Have seen others since at farm stores. The dealer list they have (Master) is very incomplete. I am happy with the Master product.

I think many of these companies just get screwed up in the busy season. Also, seems like more of them are wanting to sell the consumer directly......rather than thru dealers(?).

I put a shurflo raw water pump on my boat 3 years ago and it's still kicking in salt water. don't know if that means anything but pumps are a routine replacement on a boat.

I bought my 25 gallon one on Amazon. While it was "more money" than buying it right from Ag Spray, with the shipping it ended up being a fair bit cheaper.

I called them for one and they were out of stock. They told me to get on amazon and order. They build the sprayer for Amazon and stated it is 100% identical to the one with their own label, only difference is the private label. Amazon had in stock, with free prime shipping.

Search Amazon for Homestead UNP-Y1-050D-HS.

The Shurflo motor has not been an issue on my previous Fimco's, i's done well. Just a bunch of other issues and poor quality build that leaves 3-4 gallons of fluid in the tank when the suction line stops.

Foggy, what are your thoughts on the boomless sprayer?

I've never used one and wondering how you tract where you have already sprayed?

Is coverage as good as a boom?

I've not used a boom-type sprayer in over 40 years. The boomless is not as accurate as a boom....no doubt about that. Though I am not sure how you tell where you have sprayed with either style of sprayer boom....but after a while you get "good" at estimating coverage. I seem to get even coverage when I spray.

I'd say the boomless has a much more "course" droplet(s).....because you need to force it farther from the nozzles......but I do pretty well with mine. I could not easily get along with a boom on my land and unless you have ag-type plots I think it would be difficult for many of us.

One thing I noticed about my Master Mfg sprayer was that the nozzles are brass at the sprayer.....and have a somewhat more course spray than my old FLIMCO nozzles. After using it a bit.....I am convinced they are better nozzles than the FLIMCO. Easy to turn off / on different sides depending on needs. Should be more durable too?......and have screens at every nozzle.

EDIT: The Master Mfg sprayer I have has a intake hose that lays in the bottom of the tank....right at the drain sump. I had to add some weight to the end of the hose as it wanted to curl up off the bottom. I forces an old deep socket over the end.....and now it lays perfectly in the right location. When I am finished spraying there is less than a quart to drain out of the sump. Also I can use that hose to attach my garden hose and force prime the pump very easily and quickly. Also there is a fitting at the end of the spray boom to flush the lines out with clean water when your done.....very quick and easy. I like many of the features on the sprayer....and I beleive (hope) the plastic components are easier to operate and more durable than FLIMCO. So far / so good.

Make sure to check out ATV and UTV sprayers by Frost Inc. 25g, 50g, or 100g are tank sizes and a few boom options.

Find an Ag dealer reasonably close to you and see what brands they sell. Shipping a spray can get pricey. If you have local dealers you can save some money.

I have the Fimco 65 Gal UTV Sprayer... It looks identical to the Agspray in the link above, other than a yellow tank vs. white. It has been serviceable with a few irritating points. I've had to replace the valve manifold twice because the valves stopped functioning. The intake does leave more liquid in the bottom than I like. But overall it's been ok. I have both the boom and the boomless. I never use the boom anymore. Originally I had rigged it up with a foam dropper to park my passes, but anytime I was spraying anything taller than the boom it would want to fold on me. Switched to the boomless and much prefer it. After a bit you kind of get a feel for your coverage and how far to be from your last tracks... mine is just about the same as my turning radius of my Can Am.

I am also looking at the Ag Spray brand 25 gallon. One model says 2.2 G.P.M.: 100 P.S.I max. The other model 4.0 G.P.M.: 45 P.S.I. max. I assume the 4.0 G.P.M. is a much better pump? Both are Shurflo brand pumps. One includes a deluxe handgun (more money), is the added expense worth it for the handgun?

I see from the comments in this thread that the Ag Spray might not be any better then the Fimco brand. Could anyone recommend a spot spray for $500 or less. The sprayer will go on the back of a UTV.

I wouldn't necessarily make that assumption, perhaps just different. More volume, but much lower pressure.

I got the 25 gallon one with the economy gun. My thoughts were that's the thing that either seems to break or give up on most any pump I've owned and cheap or expensive, it's just as likely to go bad. Plus they're cheap enough to replace when it does.

Master Mfg. makes several spot sprayers that would be in your price range. I have a Master 50 gallon UTV sprayer with a broadcast unit and hand held. Those cost more ($800)....but if your looking at a smaller spot sprayer you can get it done. I think you could even add a broadcast nozzle set up and still remain in your price range.

So far I have been impressed with the quality of my Master Mfg sprayer. Seem like higher quality component parts than FLIMCO.
