Long time lurker but decided to join in the fun. I was wondering what brand of 2 4 DB everyone is using. As there is many different ones such as BUTYRAC 200 BUTYRAC 175, and DMA makes sum just wondering the best one for clover. I have two clover plots both are whitetail institute white ladino clover, one 2 acres and the other 3/4 of an acre. The 3/4 acre plot is probly 90% clean the 2 acre is 70% clean. Right now I use IMOX and have had great results but I still got a few grasses and other weeds, thistle in small amount and milk weed small amount. I usually mow wait 7-10 days and spray with Imox and surfactant. Was just gonna try something else and see if I can get some more weeds knocked out.

Thanks in advance I will post pics of plots very soon. South central pa.

Clethodim is pretty good on grasses, just mix as directed. Going to transition to Basagran for broadleafs, Imox has too long a plant back interval, especially for brassicas, for me. I don't think it makes much different on the brands, as long as the active ingredient is the same. Many times the surfactant is the difference.

I've only used butyrac 200 and I'd say it does a pretty decent job of killing broadleaf and thistle for me. The rate is much higher for 2,4db so keep that in mind.

As Swat ^ ^ ^ indicated, plant-back interval can be the critical thing to plan with, depending on how soon you want to plant something. Our camp uses cleth for grasses, and butyrac 200 for broadleaf weeds. I should say we don't try to get 100% weed/grass free plots though. It just won't happen with the amount of attention we can give them. 85% to 90% good plot, we'll take. Some weeds are deer food anyway.

Butyrac 200 and Butyrac 175 contain 2,4-DB, but differ in concentration and application rates. I buy mine at Rural King when I am in the St. Louis area getting the store brand, "Gordons 400." 2.5 gallons is $60 at about 2 pts per acre for broadleaf plants.
