Sell outright or trade in my current tractor?

There's two issues here - you have a tractor with good resale value, and then you have a bunch of stuff that goes with it. Bundled packages work great for dealers selling them because all the "extras" only add 30-50 bucks a month. Cut out the free financing and most used tractor guys are going...

    DIY culvert

Looking at your follow up pics, the dirt you have on the barrels now is sufficient for probably a well-loaded pickup, with one caveat - the ground can't be saturated. Had you filled over the barrels with crushed rock (needs the jagged edges to interlock and hold the weight), you'd be set...

    DIY culvert

Lol If I was going to tear into you, you'd know it. The volume of a cylinder the size of your barrels is about 1/3 cubic yard, so yes, that's a lot of bags. But we're not worried about the whole thing, just the outside; and then for simplicity sake we only really need an arch so we can skip...

    DIY culvert

A few bags of sack-crete and your barrels would just be a left-in-place form. In fact, a 6" diameter pvc pipe would've done that job. Buried deep enough, the pipe doesn't see much load anyway.

Who uses a grapple on a tractor?

Grapple is my most used implement. My 3rd function was closer to $400 installed, but I did all the plumbing/wiring aside from modifying the stock hoses to integrate into my diverter valve (had the local shop crimp on 4 fittings in the stock curl hoses). I then added a Hurst shifter to gain the...

Upgrading the rear SCV's on the JD 5065E

Finally got it all sorted aside from needing to cut down one of my tilt cylinder hoses, and have been using the new 2-spool t-n-t valve for a couple days. The stump grinder goes on today when I wake up, but I've already pressure checked the manifolds and there's no leaks. :) It'll be nice...

What really happened last spring to 'the other site' and a personal favor to ask

I didn't know dogs pupils are linked and don't respond independently like humans. The vet opthamologist agreed with my determination that his right eye sufferred severe trauma causing the cataract, but didn't have any hope that surgery removing it would do any good. We can do more testing for...

Upgrading the rear SCV's on the JD 5065E

Made a little progress on the 90° manifolds. Found out my flange nuts are too big and either need to turn them down or just go with 5/8 nuts and tap them 3/4-16. I'm using all-thread instead of banjo bolts, and the joints are essentially ORB with lands cut in the threads and chamfers as...

Upgrading the rear SCV's on the JD 5065E

Started working on the right-angle bracket for the stump grinder's QD's tonight. Just made some nipples out of all-thread to sex-change the female ORB QD's to male. These will thread flush to the manifold blocks, so there's no need to use a washer over the o-ring. I'll use pipe dope just to...

    Tractor PTO Coupling Issue

Might want to check the straightness of the long PTO shafting. When I twisted my second stump grinder PTO shaft, it was only tweaked just enough to bind up and not slide but wasn't so visibly damaged as to look bent. Take it all the way apart and look for shiny spots where it's got firm...

He could. There's a possibility he'd end up with chronic headaches, he could lose the eye entirely requiring removal, or should luck have it he could live to the end of his expected lifetime without further complications. I don't want to risk him suffering further by delaying the repair. I...

The tractor and tiller are tools used to earn the money I live on. Tractor time is also very theraputic for me. Do you think I should sell my anti-depressants too?

Upgrading the rear SCV's on the JD 5065E

My feet and knees are all jacked up, and my carpal tunnel syndrome was halted but not corrected by the wrist or elbow nerve release and relocation surgeries. My neck and thorasic spine are also wrecked, and I've got more diagnostic work scheduled for that next week. I'm not allowed to use a...

You still think I didn't finish Brook's shit, and that's your right; but you are wrong. I did finish work, then I wasn't able to complete other tasks. He agreed that he owed me, then took 10 months to pay. Let it go.
