    2023 Scion Exchange

Most of the nurseries sell out of persimmon seedlings very fast. Try https://peacefulheritage.com/ . If you wait an entire year MDC is one of the cheapest https://mdc.mo.gov/trees-plants/tree-seedlings/order-seedlings They sell out fast.

Best Place To To Trade/Sell Guns

I want to either trade for my Browning 300 WM + dies + brass for a Browning 270 Win or outright sell it. Where do you all recommend? I bought a Sendero off Armslist a few years ago. Is this the best way to go? It requires joining now.

    2023 Scion Exchange

Unfortunately, grafting named cultivars onto rootstock only shaves a year off the time to fruit. Persimmons have long tap roots so you can't buy large trees from nurseries like you can apple trees. But you will still want to graft to get what you want since ~70% of persimmons are going to be male.

    japanese stilitgrass and sorghum

ok. then maybe I'll just spray clethodim next year before the J. stiltgrass goes to seed to get it out of the clover that is starting to take hold. hard to be that patient.

    japanese stilitgrass and sorghum

My food plots have a lot of Japanese stiltgrass. One of the best cover plants that has been working for me is wildlife sorghum. Can I spray clethodim the first two weeks of june and then plant sorghum(+buckwheat+sunn hemp) a couple weeks later about third week of June in SE Ohio?

Jack, I would like to add some chestnuts to my property. Can you recap what has done well/not so well from the WG plantings? Do you know where I could get some Buck IV seeds? Thanks, Alan

    Apple rankings

I have a Roxbury in my backyard. It is one of my favorite apples. It is always a tart and hard apple for me - I like them that way. The golden russet are good, I prefer the Roxbury though. If you remind me next year I can mail some.

    Fertilizer question

When is it too late for urea to be effective for winter rye? Will it make any difference (be a waste of money) this late in the season? Specifically SE Ohio.

    Apple rankings

My favorite is Karmijn de Sonnaville. Rankings are so personal that an individuals ranking is worthless, IMO. Tasting yourself is the joy of it all.

    Pear Seedling Rootstock Source?

I bought from Fedco. Lower percentage takes than apples (Mileage will vary, I'm a relative novice at grafting). Financially you might be better off buying plants. I was happy with the trees from century farms orchard. https://www.centuryfarmorchards.com/

I'm Tired! EQIP Cost Share Reflections

What seems to be missing, and you have a start, is a good "for idiots guide" to help neophytes get started. I looked and couldn't find a good description on what to do next after clearing land with a forestry mulvher.

I'm Tired! EQIP Cost Share Reflections

Very interesting writeup. Thanks for sharing. I got EQIP funding for developing a forest management plan (FMP). I am waiting for subsequent funding for implementation. On the plus side, coming in at zero, I have learned a lot!
