T-N-M Brassicas

Anyone have luck or any issues with just weedwhacking down for thatch over brassica instead of any form of tilling?

I'm going to experiment this year a bit...i've got 3 small plots (between 1/4-1/2 acre) that I am going to T-N-M in early august with brassica's. These were winter wheat / rye / clover mix plots. I've got seed heads on these, and there is some bare ground showing, so it will be interesting to see how these come in. Then, plan on frostseeding clover next year.

Unless you kill the weeds & grasses they will continue to grow and out compete the brassicas for water & nutrients. I have only broadcast brassices never tilled and have good success only if you prep the plot.

Most brassica have tiny seeds and T&M fairly easily.
