Got a few turkeys around

After not seeing any birds for most of the winter, we have suddenly been overrun! (not a bad thing) The one side of our 1 acre plot is the only green spot around (last year's frost seeded clover and fall planted rye) and they are parking in it every afternoon. Nice to see some beards too.WPXH7436[1].JPGIMG_3812[1].JPGTKJU9703[1].JPG

Good luck if you're going to hunt them!

Thanks! Youth season is April 24th and the old guys get to go a week later. Usually the birds spread out a bit more by then but I'm hoping that clover and rye hold them around just a few weeks longer.

My place in NW MN, 60 miles from Canadian border and this 'turkey' showed up this morning. 1st ever on property.View attachment 33937
That's cool to see they are making it up that far. When the dnr started restocking them in WI they didn't think they could survive in the northern part of the state. They are doing great up there.

I've had the same results with the turkeys ever since I planted wr/ clover. It seems by me the Tom's split up and are about one every 40 acres or so that they claim their own piece. You should have good action it seems the hens and Jake's are always checking out the wr throughout the day. We have gone 2 for 3 the last 3 years with my son and wife both getting their first birds over our 3 acre wr field. Good luck.

Was out at lunch collecting soil samples and what I'm pretty sure was a long beard flew out of a tree about 60 yds away. Thought that was odd. Must've flew up to get a better look around I guess.
