Nice spots! Just twitching a fluke along the bank or drop shotting a fluke?

We fish them a lot on Table Rock in the spring months.
Nose hooking the fluke with a #2 mosquito and swimming it as fast as I can weightless just under the surface over brush piles in 20-35'.

Had the chance to make a bucket list trip thanks to a friend getting married / opting for his bachelor party to be two days fishing in Venice, LA... one day offshore and one day inshore.

On the heels of Hurricane Ida it went down to the wire whether we'd be able to do the trip at... Captains weren't able to give us the green light until just single digit days before go-time. Though the condo we stayed in had electricity and running water, still some visible signs of what the area is dealing with (appreciating it is far worse about 50 miles west of Venice).

Had to go out almost 90 miles / to 4,000+ foot depths before we found a rig holding yellowfin that would bite. Took a picture of this rig, the Rowan Relentless, about 50 miles out in 3,000 feet of water. Sister boat to the one we were in, both 42' Freemans, is to the left of the drilling ship just to give perspective on size.

We let the soon-to-be groom have the first fish.

Groom's best friend / best man caught the biggest fish of the day, even sans tail after being removed by a big mako right at the boat.

Next day we loaded the boat with redfish and sheephead.

Can't lie, though... despite bringing in one of the nicest inshore hauls of the day we weren't the focus of that much attention as we found ourselves competing against an Instagram fishing model, Nicole Spenc. Competition for attention wasn't even close as she had about 100x more fellas checking her out than we had eyeballing our haul. That's her just above the hat of the friend in the far left of the picture. Thankfully we were at least able to talk our Captain into taking one picture of us before he turned his attention back to her! LOL!

Great job. A fishing trip like that IMO is way better than some hot chic that’ll never give you the time of day.

No fish caught in this post but the fishing machine is now in my marina. Now I need to have it pulled and winterized so I can get on with hunting.

Likely spent my last day for the year at our local North Florida coast. Managed to put a buddy on a keeper cobia while I tagged and released one just a few inches shy of being a keeper. Cobia are my preferred fish to target as our waters cool they head south, making mid-October about as late as we ever catch them (that and my attentions get turned to spending time in the woods).

Know I've shared fair number of trail cam and fishing videos in the past, but can't recall sharing the video I put together about a decade ago that's gotten far more view than any other I've ever shared on YouTube... slideshow style video of photos from our neck of the woods paired with an old Frainkie Laine song "That Lucky Old Sun" that seemed to fit perfectly with the pics. The older I get the more I appreciate each and every opportunity I have to spend time in our Apalachee Bay area.

Logan and I went to Lanier Saturday morning. On the water at 7, off around noon. We landed +/- 20 and I only took one picture. The fluke bite slowed considerably for me/us with the majority of our fish coming on a drop shot.

This was clearly a bonus fish, but he had a buddy with him of equal size. Thankfully Logan realized it was a decent fish and got the net out of the rod locker.
