Anyone getting photos of velvet bucks yet?

you guys are WAY advanced than we are here. I've seen a couple with forked brows and starting to work out the beams... But nothing like native and david
I'm with you. After comparing what I'm seeing to their pics I feel like I'll be seeing nothing but spikes and 4 points.

I spend a LOT of time working on my property to make sure the deer have good food sources 365 days a year. Doing 40 acres (in 20 different plots of various sizes) planting in spring and fall. Also working to make sure each plot has all they need. Water, Mineral sites, food and cover. You got to keep them happy and well fed, especially after the rut when their bodies are worn down so they spend their time building their antlers rather than rebuilding their bodies. My family said I am addicted to food plotting.
For what its worth the previous owner told me after he sold it to me that he though the genetics on the property were terrible and there would never be good bucks on it. He was so wrong. It takes time, work and dedication and some money.

I think antler development, especially this time of the year, is as much a factor of buck genetics as it is the habitat on your property. Bucks are probably in your area, but summer ranges are definitely a thing, and they may be on your neighbors property because it has a lower stem count and better summer forage.

This is the second full-year I have run networked cameras on our property. There is some overlap between how bucks use the property in the summer and fall, but I am not at all worried about which bucks are still around. I just think it's fun to watch buck's antlers grow and try and ID them early on.

We have one bachelor group of bucks that has been showing up once or twice a week. There are 5-6 bucks in the group and these are the two that are the furthest along. There others are just barely starting to fork out.

I’m with Hoyt. I don’t think how they look right now has much relation to how big they’re going to be in September. Some are early growers, some are a little later. Our two biggest bucks (of our backyard group) are just past brows. Nothing impressive at all.

But it is cool to see these early growers. Lol Our split main beam buck popped out again yesterday evening.

Some really nice looking bucks on the thread so far. Here is the best one I have seen on camera so far this year at my place - guessing we get a later start w/ antler development here than many other places.
