New pond at the house. Anxious to start putting some fish structures together:)
Wow, that looks great! Nice place and a great place for a pond.
I've been sinking structures in our pond. Makes for much better fishing! I like brushy stuff like cedar for forage fish, and big limb stuff for larger fish to sit under. I alternate the structures (brushy with big limbs) to put the predators close to the forage and help with easy meals. Learned a lot from pondboss forums about this stuff. I'm very curious as to your plan and pics on what you do. I'm also currently dropping rocks to make some piles near the dock.
Any updates on the pond? You guys get anymore done or has it filled up?View attachment 31849Just did a few of these with the boys. Doing half dozen of them.
Me too! So cool how fast they go up! Makes me want to build another house an post frame it!I'm a sucker for a pole barn....The possibilities are endless...I have a 24x24 and 36x72...Now doing a 50X120 with a 15' overhang...we have not broke ground on it yet though.
Thank you for the advise! Much appreciated! Can you post a link to these pond bubblers an compressor you recommend?Literally, the more stuff/structure you put in there, the more places bait fish and all the other fish have to hide and spawn and that makes for more and bigger fish. Anything and everything is game. Doesn't look like you have a lot of trees directly over the pond to dump in leaves so you'll only have to worry about muck sediment washing in from runoff. If you haven't already, put aeration in the pond. I'd put in 3 bottom bubblers running off a single air pump. Air pumps run very cheaply and can move a lot of water from the bottom to the surface riding the bubbles up. If you do that now, you'll keep muck from building up in the pond from the start up. It should stay that way for many years. You'll keep the pond and the fish happier too. I own a pond dredging company so I see a lot of ponds and a lot of pond problems.
Aeration helps eliminate the "turn over" of the water that causes that.My buddy had a big fish kill after it got cold unexpectedly and the channel and bass were all around the edge trying to swim.He call state wildlife and they had been receiving calls for a couple days with other people having the same issue
