What the heck is this??

I have seen these things growing all over in my corn fields this year. This one is from a few weeks ago.

Looks like the Stratego is starting to fail.

It looks to me like a mushroom in the "stinkhorn family'. They are supposed to smell terrible. Although they are not know to be poisonous, nobody would want to eat them because they smell so bad and are gross.
