Talk of the Ash Bore made me think of the similar issues we have with the Spruce Budworm, which attacks Balsam Fir and White Spruce in our area. A good portion of our bedding areas are made up of Balsam and young spruce. Thick cover is changing to a sea of brown and dead fall. Interesting to see how this changes deer movement. I would think new growth should spring up with the added sunlight. My other concern is the fire risk, especially with a dry spring!
