Small tree / shrub identification

I took these pictures end of February these small trees shrubs are growing along the creek in Harriman State Park Orange County New York I thought it strange that the fruit is still remaining near the end of winter

How big are the fruits? I have some high Bush cranberry still holding.

My guess is they're a little bit bigger than a p
 
That could be winterberry. I have a bunch of them growing in the lowlands on my land. I have seen deer eat the berries, but I don't think much else does cause they hold on thru the winter.
