I have struggled with using the right amount of pectin. One batch is slightly runny and the next is so stiff it's difficult to get out of the jar. I try to keep my batches small (5 Quart) and it seems to make the pectin easier.
Nice color, I'm envious. My plums won't be ready until September. I think I have a couple jars left from last year. Nothing better than real butter and Plum jelly on toast.
We planted twenty five native plums in the shrub strips this past spring and I've got more ordered for next spring...am really looking forward to hopefully starting to get some fruit five or six years from now.
We had big wind early thirsday morning and it put a bunch of them on the ground. The coyotes, deer, racoons, and my black lab made quickbwork of them so only found about 2.5 gal of plums that were ripe
We will make the stuff today.
