And a few successful Oklahoma grafts from last year. I have only had 1 fail in 2 years answer that was the whole tree dieing after the graft took.

My bean plot from early june that the water hemp eventually dominated. I am going to see what happens may end up mowing down in September and planting the always performing LC mix

I had a buddy recommend adding some corn similar to what Yoder does. In his side by side tests the last 3 years he feels deer prefer this plot by a wide margin to either two alone. The issue it limits herbicide options for RU resistant waterhemp. I gave the corn 75 lbs per acre of nitrogen to ensure some ear production. I may also oversead brassicas if there is any bare soil in 2 weeks.

I have quickly become addicted to persimmon grafting which I have had pretty good luck with. 2nd year of growth just after trimming water sprouts

Nice pics! Once the grafting bug bites you you're infected for life.

Cut a few junk trees last month to keep the crp in a old field setting and to give the new grafts some sunlight.

Trimming up a few stands on another property I have to hunt. We have about 35 more to do in the next two weeks. We usually save the field edges for last.

Project switch grass under way. I need some help, the plan was to plant beans and keep the weeds down, spray with oust late fall and frost seed switchgrass next spring. Issue is my beans aren't doing well, which I suspect is due to browse. I sprayed with gly and cobra tonight. I do not want bare dirt all fall. Can I broadcast brassicas in a week and then spray with oust in January and then still frost seed the switch? Any ideas are welcome. A few pics of the plot planted July 3rd

Here is my other plot approx 2.25 acres. This was an experiment gone bad I tried mixing corn and beans which severely limited herbicide options. I did get some aresenel but by the time i made it back to spray figured it wasnt worth wasting the spray.I hadn't been exposed to water hemp in this plot before but it dominated the plot and was 100% round up resistant.

Still quite a bit of food out there going to see what happens and may go with a late planted fall grain mix if it looks like the food won't produce late season.
