I have a G series home cell camera.... I found a g series home cell with out the cam for really cheap.... I want to turn the first one the g series home cell camera into a remote camera. When I go to the link mode the only options are home and off. Remote and repeater are not options... what am u doing wrong?

Home units cant be remotes, they can only be a home - they are sold at a reduced margin as an entry point to cuddelink - you can only use one home in a network.

trying to use g-1547 stand alone to get videos, pulled the card and it has several videos on it but cant seem to view m4v files.

we tested this on both a PC and a Mac at the main office . we used a G Cell camera…turned LINK OFF and CELL MODE OFF, then put the camera in ADVANCED MODE. I had 1 Image on with a 10 second delay and I had VIDEO ON for 20 seconds. recorded 3 videos. I put the SD card in a PC and it used Media Player to play the mp4. I put the SD card in a Mac and it used VLC Media Player to play the mp4. we had no issues in either case.Im guessing this is something on yoru computer in regards to the video player, if you want to PM me your contact info i can have someone form Cudderback give you a call to go thru it over the phone

Thanks for your response, I tried in a different computer and it viewed fine.
2 years ago I purchased 3 G-1547 because that was all that was available and the web site advertised they could be used as home, remote or repeater and this worked fine. When the L became available I purchased them, up dated one G firmware to be used with the L's as a Home and I could no longer use the G as a remote. My 2 remaining G's if updated can then be only stand alone or Home units. Doesn't make since that Cuddeback takes away a great feature that keeps me from using these cameras in my system.

To clarify - the reason why you could only find those a couple years ago was supply issues because of covid made it impossible for cuddeback to get radios to build remotes .
Home cell units were always intended to be home only, it was a typo mistake to list/advertise the cell units as having the ability to be a remote,Thats description was only suppose to be for G non cell units as they can be used as a home in a non cell network, a remote or a repeater. The cost is higher to manufacture a cell unit with a camera in it and they were sold as an entry point to the cuddelink system , at a loss. At the time, the G cell units were $199. 99 and the G remotes were $279.
If you want to convert them to remotes ,you could 1. call cs or get me your info and they may be able to swap out your caps for remote caps(i'm not sure if they have any left and would need to check ). 2. You could keep them on old firmware but you lose the option for control settings online and they also wouldnt work with your L series . 3. There is also G series remotes on closeout now for as low as $130 , you could sell the 5147 and purchase remotes instead, for likely the same money,. The G cell home units will soon be completely sold out and people will be looking for them since the L home without a camera will be the only available option soon. Just want to give you some options to think about.
