Mortenson - No problem. My camp has a batch of regular apples too, but the crabs just seem to chug along without a big fuss to make them grow & produce. The 3 I mentioned have grown well for us at camp. I haven't had a Violi's fruit yet - maybe this summer - but the All-Winter-Hangover and the Winter Wildlife crabs have fruited and they are doing REALLY well. They are proprietary varieties that St. Lawrence Nursery has introduced. I've never seen them anywhere else. SLN has Violi's and AWH ready for spring 2018. I get their catalog in the mail, but it's also online. They have no Winter Wildlife for this spring, but Connor Hardiman - the owner of SLN - told me he'll have them for spring 2019.
The AWH puts on 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" dia. red-blushed apples that drop for us starting in October & drop slowly for another month or 2. Tasty in October, if you want to try them. The WW crab puts on 1" dia. red apples that still had some hanging in mid-December after our regular deer seasons were over. Happy with both of them !! We have several of both.
I don't need anything in return. As H20fowler said above - I'm just paying it forward. If these scion exchanges help other guys with some good trees - it's all good.
