    Slug guns & rifled barrels

Hey guys, Those that are in shotgun only areas- I need some advice. Planning to hunt an Public land spot here in NC this year that’s restricted to shotguns or muzzleloader. I have zero experience with slugs, other than the occasional round fired for fun. I do have a 870 supermag that I would be...

    Advice..

So throwing this out here- In our area it has become almost impossible to rent a forestry mulcher for DIY work. All the bobcat dealers have a policy in place that either you have be a business, or at least have rental equipment insurance. We did have 1 gentleman come out last year & did a...

    Rays Crazy Mix

Anyone tried this stuff? Apparently based on Ray Archuleta's cover crop blend. Has cereal grains, vetch, clover, brassicas & winter peas. One thing I didn't know is that it has ryegrass.. Found that out once I got ready to open the bag. Seed supplier I buy from sells it for $60 a bag, apparently a...

    Bedding

So next week kicks off our '18 improvements & habitat work. One thing I realized this past year is a need for improving & creating new bedding. Trying to make our little patch as enticing as possible. Landowner is planning to burn possibly at least the north side before spring, but if that...

    Firebreaks

What do y'all normally do with your firebreaks?? We already have some trails established, widening them out in a few weeks for a burn later in winter. Thought about planting a grass or just disc before the burn? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Quail??

Anyone on here familiar with quail habitat? LO is a bird hunter, just started talking about establishing some coveys on the property. From what I've seen, quail habitat is alot of early successional (but not too thick) along with grasses & forbes. Slightly different from deer/turkey.

    Land clearing option

Guys need some advice here- We have rented a skidsteer & brush mower for last couple years. This last time I saw that the vegetation is just getting too much , at least for this particular setup. They don't have an enclosed cage, so I can't lift the mower up over the brush & cut from top down...

    ATV rake

Hi guys, I'm trying to find a decent atv rake I can use to clear out the slash & bush hog debris from my plots. I've seen several wheeled rakes but they are $500+. And the other ones are designed to work with a 1 point system-impact implements, kolphin & dirt works. Has anyone found a simple...

Some of the areas are covered in thick material & vines the bush hog wouldn't chop. I'm going out tomorrow to spray gly through those areas & drop...

    Logging Slash..

I'm going to preface this with saying I know the answer ultimately will be in a soil sample. But-- Whats ya'lls experience with logging slash after 5-6 yrs? I was bushhogging on the farm last month & cut into an area of slash that was so thick nothing had grown there. I tilted the deck &...

    working with natural regen

Hi all- Deer season is coming to a close here in NC & I've been reviewing my mental "work list"for next year. One thing I'm considering is thinning out patches of oaks, sweet gum & cherry trees that are in the regenerating pines. Landowner wants to keep the pines, has talked about replanting...
