I could accommodate that. What might be the appropriate space for that? I love shed hunting. :D

I await shed season just as eagerly as i do archery season....and i scout sheds just as hard if not harder than i scout for hunting. maybe post them up in the "successful hunts" sub section in the "General Section" I think there have been some shed hunting success threads in there before. you'll have to forgive me...i've been away for a while and i'm just getting back into the groove here again.

I see one of my buddies from the QDMA forum, as well as a couple of other smaller "shed hunting specific" forums, Farmhunter has made his way over here. He's a die hard, hardcore, shed finding machine from Central, NY. Hopefully he sees this thread....because i'm sure he would have asked to see more of the sheds too...lol. hopefully he'll end up posting up some of his shed pics here!

You did a great job!

The only problem with the spray foam, is if you need to run wire at a later time, i could see it being a problem, other than that its very efficient.

So, it happened. We switched from Dish Network to a local provider. They use Cat-5 instead of COAX cable. Had to shell out $70 for a converter since we couldn't fish new cable through the walls. I think next time we will run some sort of conduit just for cable and data stuff since that is likely to change... Add it to the list. :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Next time run conduit (bigger than you think you need) and another conduit with coax cat6 and anything else you can think of to future proof it :)

I agree i wire alot of house for data and,tv and phone. If I was building another one I would run duct to every outlet.Looks great.Nice to see another one from Kansas

This is awesome, thanks for sharing! I am hoping to do something similar in the near future. If you were starting over what would or would you do anything differently?

Bigger. :) In all seriousness, the floorplan includes an attached garage. We have it so full of stuff, there's no way a vehicle is going in there. There are some minor things we would change. The living room is awkward. Not a place to have a TV without the sunset glaring in the window on it. The raised coffer in the bedroom is barely bigger than the ceiling fan. While it looks nice, it doesn't give much air flow since there is so little space surrounding the blades. Some sort of vent hood for the stove would be nice. Pan seared steaks are out of the question! Haha! Some things as simple as the direction the front door swings. The door is centered in the hallway so aesthetically it doesn't matter. The way we swung it means that our predominate West-ish wind will grab the screen door. The thing is, when we built the house, we didn't even think about the screen door. Had we hinged it the other way, the wind would likely push it shut rather than try to tear it off. We've replaced it once already... :/ It is impossible to think of every little thing when you are building something like this yourself. At least for us anyway.

If I were to do it again, I would have built a bigger shell to start with. The price difference wasn't that much and it wouldn't have taken that much longer to build. The way I see it, we could have still finished the same size area as we did, but left available the option to expand if we so desired.

I love whoever built my house because of the Cat6 they ran to every room (minus the spare bedrooms)

Op, with the level of insulation y'all did, you are approaching a passive house. To get past the "breatheability" of the house, passive houses often have forced intake air that passes through a heat exchanger taking the heat/cooling out of the outgoing air. They are SUPER effiecent and I would love to build my future home to meet their standards.

The way I look at it is, I can either pay at the front with good build practices and insulation levels... or I can pay EVERY month after that for building sub-par.

Beautiful build by the way!

Thanks! Our utilities are very manageable. :)

Is anyone able to see, or is there a way to still see the pictures in this thread? All of them are coming up as I need some type of 3rd party upgrade in photobucket?

Great thread. I have a cabin that is essentially stick built but I have used rib metal for all my exterior. It is insulated well with batts. My first couple years went great. Now the the mice have found there way in and I am about fed up with them. I really hate mice and their devilish ways. This past weekend I added a 10 x 26 bunkhouse addition to my cabin and I am strongly considering the spray foam insulation. As an extreme DIY'er this is a bit daunting to me and I may just have to hire it out and bite the cost bullet. Any additional info on potential solutions for DIY would be cool. Does this stuff keep the dirty rodents out?
They make some now that is rodent proof. Look at Daps line.

No photobucket decided that if you were going to link to your own pictures hosted by them you have to pay $. Thier holding people's pictures for ransom and most people are not paying it. I'm not.

That's what I guessed. I tried to sign up and they charge like $400.... insane! No way would I even think about paying that.

Sorry guys... I am too poor to pay for it. :emoji_disappointed:

No you mean you are too smart to fall for their scam! Personally I hope they go out of business over it.

Download them from photobucket and upload them directly here!

If I'm not mistaken, photobucket just disabled the 3rd party hosting part. You can still see them when you log into PB right?

I can still see them on PB. Didn't realize you could upload photos directly to here.

Yep, select "Upload a file" in the lower right hand corner. After uploading you insert it into the message. The system will auto-resize it for you. Yell if you need a hand.
