Cuddeback's Cuddelink

Are you with the company? If so what would a single camera and a receiver for the home computer run $$$? Just looking for a basic system to test out...
Thanks!

yes,
Cuddelink cameras are available now at any retailer who sells Cuddeback cameras, There are several options available ranging from $249-299 MSRP. The home unit will not be available until later 2018 but MSRP on that unit will be $130. There should be even more info released after the ATA trade show in January.

Sportsman’s guide usually has decent prices plus you can get a discount. Amazon also has decent prices on the dual flash camera without the cap. You’ll have to order that separately though.

PM me and/or post here when the home comes out. hopefully not to "later in 2018" but they have to get their testing done so I get it.

Update: Pulled the home camera card today and decided that I love this system. A few sample pics. These are the thumbnail pics.

Which cameras are you using? DF or long range?

I currently have 4 dual flash cameras. I was looking at the CB web site today and see I can get 4 long range for the price of three, I may add 4 of those for food plot and field edge cameras and keep the DF for trials and stand location cameras. One good thing last night was almost every buck on camera was coming back from feeding in daylight.

I have 3 DFs out and just got a long range. I’m thinking the same as you... long range over plots and fields. DF’s or black flashes over scrapes and trails. Any hiccups with your system? I haven’t had any with mine yet.

you may want to do the opposite, use the DF on plots and fields and the LR on trails and scrapes. There will be super IR, white strobe flash and a super black flash module available soon for the Dual Flash camera platform, the Super IR will increase illumination of a field or a plot dramatically . The new Super Black flash module will give you IR Performance in a zero visibility Black flash and the White Strobe will give you color images at night. Those modules will replace your existing flash module in the current Dual flash cam. The current dual flash cam basically has an ir and a black flash mod in it.
There will also be the option to order a dual flash cam with one of the Super flash mods of your choice already installed in 2018. I tested the strobe on field edge scrapes this year because I like the color night time images.

I have not had any issues yet. I do have my cameras spaced pretty far apart and 2 of the cameras were around 30 when I put them out. After 3 weeks for some reason they are closer to 60. I like the black flash on my trails because I will put them in or very near bedding areas. Since I do not have to dive into these areas to check cameras anymore, I can see what is going on and what bucks are visiting my doe bedding areas. I already have learned of a new buck on my farm that leaves north to the neighbors. He is not what I am looking for, but I would have never known he was there prior to having the CL system. I am enjoying the system so far. The only issue I can see is it is going to cost me to get the setup that I want.

I am geeking out like a kid on Christmas..... I love the idea of super black flash.

Not sure where your located but I got an increase in signal as the season changed. I think as the vegetation died, the signal got better. Which if you put out more cameras not around your others... just remember that signal could decrease as summer roles around so account for it accordingly.

Spring and fall are generally worse than winter or summer around here. The key at 900mhz is water. In the winter deciduous leaves are gone and evergreens tend to hold less water. In the summer they tend to hold less water than in the early fall (before deciduous turn), and especially in the spring right after leaf-out.

Thanks,

Jack

If your familiar with the Cuddeback Cuddelink camera and used them, how did you mount them on a tree or whatever you used to put them up? Does the cameras come with a strap or mounting kit? One other thing I don't see on them, in pictures, is a screw hole for screwing on tree mounts or monopods, is there one? I just ordered screw in the tree mounts but I don't think they will work with this camera. Anybody know?

Thanks, Ken

they come with a strap and a tree mount that can be used with the strap or screwed to the tree, they also make a pole mount with adjustable height and also a tree mount that has tilt and pan adjustment.

Thanks John for the quick reply. Will a mount, like one of the HME's, that also screws into the tree and the camera also work? Does it have to be a Cuddeback specific mount?

Thanks, Ken

im not familiar with that mount so i cant say- but there is a threaded tap on the back that holds the battery compartment shut, possibly would work in that.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a traditional 1/4” threaded mount, you would have to get a Cuddeback Genius mount instead. I have 3 of the Cuddelinks, and I ended up getting a few of the old Genius 3 pack mounts that Cuddeback was discontinuing for $10 each. If interested, they may still be selling them for that, but you’d have to check to see.

Don’t really see a big benefit with their mounts, guess it’s just a way they can up sell accessories. Sure wish the HMEs would work, been using those on all of my other cameras for years.

Thanks, it's like tooling up for a different job and of course it's not cheap.

Actually, you can take part of cuddeback’s mount off the back of the camera. This allows/attachment to a 1/4 screw mount that most cameras use. I have one on a stake over a food plot that way. So it can be done. Using cuddebacks mounting system is nice though but not exactly needed if you already have other equipment.
