Nice looking apples. How long would they stay on the tree if you didn't pick them?

Do you eat them fresh or use them for cider or baking?

Baking, eating and cider. Not sure how long they hang since i pick them when ready. My varieties that hang long are yates and michelin

nice, what are you using for a polinator/ s?

I have 75 varieties so pollination is not a problem, however Grimes golden is a great pollinator.

Dang, your guys's pics of apples make me jealous! I'm thrilled that something I planted produced 10-15 crabs this yr. I have an AB planted... i will probably be retired by the time it produces more than a handful.

Most nurseries say 2-7 years for ABs to produce, jealous how close you are to retirement then! LOL

Lol, not that close!

If I'm getting apples in 7yrs I'll be thrilled.

Great haul, Dan! I'm anxious to see our AB put on it's first apples. Ours at camp is 3rd leaf now. It's growing pretty well so far.

I have a 20+ Arkansas black and it produces like gangbusters. What I like most, is that it holds apples well into November and December. I plan to add a few more at the camp... ya gotta get em in the ground for the clock to start. That said, I am as impatient as everyone else!!

I have 4 and all producing but too well as many of the apples are small. I need to thin better next year. Haven't picked yet. Makes great ciderfor sure

I have had 3 year old Arkansas Black on B118 produce apples. Obviously you dont want a young tree like that to stunt itself by over producing though.

How do you tell if they are ready? I eat one :)

ready and ripe when seeds turn dark.

Wouldn't you rather taste it if you have to cut it open to see the seeds lol. I would!!!!!

Do you guys like to eat them off the tree? Too mushy/texture is just off for my liking. My girlfriend didn't like them either. Still holding in east central, MN.

Easier to taste one lol
I like tasting them all too but how do you know it is ripe if you've never tasted one before? I got 75 varieties planted and only one of them I've ever bought at a store.
