Williams Creek Farm of SW Iowa

The last day of pheasant and deer season, January 10, my neighbor (different neighbor than above) who is as avid a deer and habitat guy as I am and we get along great. We invited a bunch of guys out to hunt pheasants in some CRP on some property I just gained access to. Only dropped 3 birds but was a great time getting to know some other hunters, along with 2 young kids. Had a nice breakfast back at the cabin. I can see this becoming a tradition on the last day of the season. Didn't get any pics. Rich time.

In January, took my first out of state hunt down to the Tennessee delta on the Mississippi river. An amazing experience with good friends. We hunted ducks in the morning and hogs in the afternoon--all new experiences for me. We dropped 20+ ducks in 2 days and 2 hogs. Lots of fun memories.

My daughter only made it into the deer stand one time this season as she was super busy as high school senior involved with basketball (she made first team all confernece and all region), archery and music (she plays piano, violin, trumpet, guitar and french horn). The one sit we had, we had 17 deer file by us at 20 yards away. Unfortunately, I didn't cut an opening to that side of the stand last summer, as it would have been a small opening, and the foodplot was right in front of us. I'll know better for next year.

Thanks! She is our youngest of seven. I think my wife and I are going to be lost next year knowing what to do with all of our free evenings. Hopefully that means we’re spending more time down at the farm! :-)

Had the forester out today to approve some TSI work for an EQIP project. She pointed out a couple young walnut trees, so we protected it from the deer with some cedar cuttings.
