Wild Turkey population is tanking across most of its range

You know how many properties around here in CRP I see pheasants and turkeys? 0%. You know how many owned by 80 yr old farmers who are still hanging on with nobody to pass the farm to but refuse to give up. Lots of pheasants, turkeys, deer. Go figure. It doesn’t have to look pretty. In fact, it shouldn’t.

I could put 20 acres into CRP right now. I know it won’t do what needs to be done around here to sustain healthy wildlife. We are so lacking in cover, we need a little bit of everything to make it happen.

That's a doe backstrap we had tonight. I'd invite you to have a larger portion than I had, which was almost nothing! Fine line seeing a perfect dinner and everyone's smiles. I enjoyed the side of WI cheese.
