Which MOA rail?

Ok it’s a 100 moa scope most likely
 
Bullet drop ar 350 yards is about 100 inches. 1 moa is about 1 inch at 100 yards. Keep the scope right in the middle and getting the perfect moa rail to adjust would be around a 28 moa rail. Assuming your 3 feet shy, would guess the scope is making up for 5 feet of drop at max adjustment. Thats about 17 moa that scope can do roughly. Need atlast 11 moa. Not a long range expert here, but typical rail is 20 moa.

Burris elite rings have shperical plastic inserts. You can get offset ones to make up for drop or other issues. Oldest kid paid way too much for a pretty so-so mauser sporterized conversion. Seems like one of the McCoy brother widdled the scope rings on. Has was a bit low, but way right. Got the elite offset insert set and adjusted it probably 90% of the way. Was like 3ft right at 90 yards. About 40 moa off. 3 inches between the scope rails it would be a rings was about .037" to the right. You can spin those inserts any angle you need.

Knew it was going to be way too much for the scope, so I told him to not touch the adjustment and get it with the offset rings. Kinda thought we used a 30 in the front and a 10 in the rear ring to tweak it .040" over.

About a month later the boy paid way too much for a beat up old ithaca 37 from the same shop. Owner must love seeing him walk in every time.

Also, long range 22lr around that 350 mark, most bullets go subsonic velocities at that distance. When coming out of mach speed, the bullet gets shaken up a bit by the shockwave. Most fussy shooters get fustrated with 22lr at that range. Groups get sloppy.
 
Lots of great info on this thread! I appreciate you guys sharing your knowledge. I'm learning a lot! Not sure exactly what I'll do, how I'll go about it... but at least I know the details that need ironed out.
