What is this tree???

While exploring a gamelands in southcentral Pa this morning I came across a planting of wild pear and this mystery tree.

The leaves.

The fruit or nut or whatever.

It was a good sized planting but I couldn't find one pear on any of the pear trees.
 
My first guess would be sawtooth oak

Yep I think you nailed it, Neahawg. I'll try to get back there this fall to see what the nuts look like. All the trees were loaded.

The trees I found hadn't started to show acorns yet, but they were really carrying a heavy crop.
