Welded Wire Sale

Yep got my 2 rolls last week. That's all I use for me it's high enough if you make it large enough in diameter

Smsmith. The 4 will do the trick just make it a bit wider diameter. The price difference is better deal for 4 ft even if u need an extra foot or 2 per cage

Thanks aero...but I want the wire for a chicken run, not deer cages. I think going to 5' will pretty much insure no coyotes or coons are able to get in to the chicken enclosure....plus I don't think the birds will be able to get airborne enough to clear 5'....4' would be "iffy"
Ok sorry was making dinner for wife and I and drinking some wine. Maybe I didn't comprehend lol

Those Bradford County boys are a shaky lot Stu !! It takes a little time ......... wine is just the cover !!!;) :D Joshin' Aero !!
Coons won't make it over a 5' fence, Stu ?? I swear they use parachutes and magic wands here. They seem to get into everything.

Just an FYI..its the same price at my local (Little Falls) TSC. I was toying with getting a couple rolls of the 4' for a new chicken enclosure, but think I'll go with the 5' instead. Pretty crazy the price jump from 4'-5' at TSC...much cheaper for me to go to Menard's locally (but the 4' is much cheaper at TSC)

I just bought two rolls of 6' I think it cost me more than the trees. The. Extra foot seems to make a big difference with my snow. I cut 6-7' pieces, basically a big tree tube. I have to keep the deer off the top of the tree, if they nip off what grows through, so be it.

A 5' fence with a few feet of chicken wire attached to the bottom and then flattened out along the ground (and held down with stakes/rocks/whatever) should do a good job of keeping the coons out. We also run an e-fence around the chicken coop. We didn't have any issues last year, but its always good to be prepared. We're going to 25 chickens this year after about a dozen last year...I'd rather not "donate" any of them to the predators.

Holy crap, and I thought 6 was a lot!

They're meat chickens....not layers :)

We picked up three 50' rolls of 5' welded wire yesterday at Menard's...on sale for $35 a roll

LOL, Had to put one down today. The others beat up on her bad. Getting 6 more layers next week. I had an old chain link dog run that I canverted for the chickens and just added some chicken wire to the bottom.

I like the 5' for the deer tree. I haven't bought any in years. DSCN1505.JPG

You will have some chickens that can and will learn to fly over a 5' high fence. We always raised about 50 broilers a year and had a dozen or so hens for eggs year round. If you cut the primary feathers short on one wing they cant fly well enough to clear the fence. We always had to put our chickens in a coop at night, coons and possums will find a way into a pen guaranteed! If a coon gets in you will have a blood bath on your hands.

thank you Im going to have to try this one

I marinate it overnight and then baste with it as it cooks in the grill.

Cornell recipe is the only way I cook chicken. I marinate it overnight but I also inject it. Legs and thighs are everyone's favorite. I cook it on a wood fire.

Yes. Up to the half way point. Then I close the top of my cooker and let them finish to a dropping temp. They end up fall of the bone and juicy.
Here is the cooker I built out of an old oil tank. I cut it in half added a grate and hinges. Works best for chicken because the chicken is high enough above the flames to avoid flare ups.

I got a couple rolls of the 4' wire myself. I use that in conjunction with some window screen as well. I really like using a square of lumite as well, I've planted some with and some without and the trees with it have done better thus far. And depending on the tree, I also dip them in Watersorb as well.

I've used 4' and 5' for trees and shrubs. I no longer use the 4' because the deer were grabbing my elderberry canes and snapping them over the top of the 4' cages. The only browse damage I get on elderberries with 5' cages around them is the growth out of the sides of the cage. The deer don't grab the tops. I've watched deer stand up on their back legs to reach up and over the 4' cages.
