Weird looking zebra clover?

Derek Reese 29

5 year old buck +
Found a few clover with this unusual coloring in my front field yesterday. This is not a field with great soil and there is an abundance of thistle in certain parts of it. Any idea what this could be? I’ve planted several different varieties of red and white clover in this field over the past few years. Wondering if it’s some kind of disease or deficit? We have definitely had below average rain the past 2 months and this field is usually pretty wet. Or is this the beginning of my zebra clover empire that I can market as 20 pt buck gitter and retire on Monday? Haha Thanks!

Dang if it only had 4 leaves you would be set for life!! Sorry I have no idea what it is. Likely a nutrient deficiency.

Looks like a virus.

Same^^^ Looks like maybe sick with something.

Either a virus or magnesium deficiency.

Look up red clover vein mosaic virus and clover yellow vein virus.

pottasium and boron defeciencies are common in clover. Drought can bring out pottasium deficiency too. Just need rain.

Water a patch good, water it again next time your around. See what happens. Could also lime a patch with lime that has magensium in it. Same can be done with potash. Farmers used to play with amendments like that to see if it was worth it or not.

a 4 foot by 4 foot area needs 15 gallon of water to be considered 1 inch of rain.

Do u have a full soil test? Odds are there’s something missing in the nutrient makeup. It’s not as simple as adding what’s short. Sometimes you need item A to make item B available.

Manganese is one of those. It’s hard to find and get enough to put on that’s affordable, but increase potassium, and manganese comes available.
