First year with no till, looking for advice on prepping for fall planting

Brian I was wondering like you said that 70 pounds seemed really light. We're you using 3 bushel per acre?

I had that problem last year on my 3p600 when calibrating it last year, but once I got into the field planting I never had the buildup. Basically just cranked the drive shaft the right number of times, shook the built up seed loose from the tubes and weighed it, and then when planting the vibrations from the planter kept it from plugging.

I was running well over double the rate of cereals that you are.
When I planted the buckwheat in spring I didn't seem to have this problem. I'm wonder if the seed shape has something to due with it. I know the openers have a lot of travel and the rubber drop tubes need to compensate for that, but I would think they could have come up with a better rubber drop tube that would prevent the seed from sticking in the accordion sides of the tube. Maybe I'm going too slow when drilling. The field I planted is irregular shaped with lots of obstacles.

I'm new to doing seed mixes and figured since I'm adding clover to the mix I should go light on the oats so it doesn't choke out the clover. I was planning on possibly drilling in some rye latter in September.
