TSC apple tree (couldn't resist)

Telemark

5 year old buck +
I was at TSC today, and they had a Cortland that looked really nice. About 11 feet tall, with nice branches, and a decent trunk. Then I saw all fruit trees are 20% off, bringing the price down to $22. Plus I can race scionwood from it? And I wanted a trial run before my big orchard build in Canada this May. Plus a few other reasons I thought up to justify buying it.

Anyway, I have it. So, now what? It's too tall for the garage, so it is sitting on the north side of the house. When should I plant it?

Is it potted or a bare root?

If it is potted, plant it today.
If it is not potted (bare root), then plant it yesterday.

Potted.

I bought him a pollinator buddy too. Little 5' Golden Delicious. I was worried about the leaves. Will it be a problem?

That 11' tall tree surely has a pot big enough for the roots that it's going to need to grow.:emoji_rolling_eyes:

Yeah, cut some scion wood off that Cortland and graft some more. Plant when you get to it.

For the leafed out one, I'd want to plant close to the last frost date and protect in the garage or shed until then.
