Trespassers

Mike

A good 3 year old buck
I am looking to hear your trespasser stories. Ever have a trespasser claim they had permission to be on your land? If you have a Trespasser story post it here I would love to hear them.

What on earth

I’ve had one guy coon hunting on another property walk through mine to get to a road. I was able to locate the landowner who gave him permission and told him no more, landowner was upset at the guy so that’s good. My worst offender has been dang contractors from the tva. They maintain the vegetation on the transmission line every couple years. They like to ride through my property to take the easy way to the road. I made it abundantly clear after getting them on camera at dusk on nov 5th that had I been in my stand and they came by I would have lost my mind. Told them they have an easement on the transmission line not throughout my whole property. I also said in the off season I’d be more than happy to work with them on access.

There's a video, I'm not sure how to attach it. 6 of them walk by

LARPer losers?

I’ve been seeing a really big 8 point on my in laws property though not seeing him in person. He must be kinda popular, as their neighbor walked through a field I have a stand overlooking at 11 AM on the first day of rifle season, followed by 2 of his young (less than 7 years old or so) grandchildren…I got it on video mode on the camera too…like wow that took some stones and lower than average intelligence…

This guy was dropped off and pushed my timber in Iowa . A local guy recognized him & the warden went to his house & showed him the pic….

Warden told him you will get a warning for now, if I catch you again you get 2 violations ! Interesting idea, I was fine with it !

I get you were cool with it but can I ask why you didn’t want to press charges this time? They clearly knew they were in the wrong and pushing your timber is a big deal in terms of the damage that could have been done

It was 2014 . I’m not sure, might have been his suggestion? It was just prior to Christmas. I was planning on selling the farm, so it was just not high priority to me at the time .

I recognize one, but not the other. Neighbors hunting on our land without permission at the cabin property

Been averaging 3-4 per season (summer, fall, winter, etc.). Mostly on the neighbors. He's given me permission to run everyone off, nobody has access except for his buddy who hunts and me.

3 things I always include in conversation once I've approached them; who's land ya on?, who gave you permission?, and I always say something specific about their license plate. Then while walking them back to their truck I usually let them know the sheriff will be waiting for them next time, not me. Almost 100% Sedgwick Co plates (Wichita citiots).

Last yr a guy was hunting on him without permission. Drove a company truck (Electrician) from Massachusetts. The landowner met him while hunting. Said he won't be back. Seemed pretty worked up.

The guy with this plate was a hoot! Didn't care for cops much. Stories he told me on the way back all ended with dirty cops, never hinted that he may have had something to do with his legal problems.

Who seemed worked up the landowner or the electrician?

The landowner. I texted to see if it was someone he knew hunting on him. It wasn't so I said I'd take care of it. He beat me there to take care of it himself. Was not a happy camper.

Our biggest issues with trespassers are people looking for arrowheads in the creeks/ravines of our properties. We are to the point that we have a good relationship with the sheriff's department.

We used to have major issues with road hunting/poaching, but that has really died down in the last several years.

I have had a few - but will tell one where I was the trespasser. Was bird hunting western nebraska. Staying at the motel of the guy who owned Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse and Lounge in Paxton, Nebraska. He gave us a map of different parcels of land he leased or arranged a deal with the landowner for guests at the motel, to hunt. My son and a buddy with me - my truck with AR plates. Had hunted three or four days with moderate success. Get a phone call in the motel room one night. Guy on the phone does not identify himself - pleasant conversation about the days hunt and I am thinking it is the guy who owns motel that gave us the map. At the end of the conversation, he identifies himself as game warden and says he needs to come to room and talk to us. I told him come on over - he was there in less than five minutes.

He says we had been reported for trespassing. He asked where we hunted that day and I showed him on the map the parcels we hunted. He asked if we hunted any land not shown on the map and I said no. He asked if anyone approached us about trespassing and I told him no - which they hadnt.

I asked him where it was, to show me on the map. He said he couldnt do that. I asked who reported it and he said he couldnt tell me. He said I would have to come back in a month to find out in court. I could plead guilty and pay the fine when I was in court or I could plead not guilty and they would set another date to present my case. Or, he would write just one of us a ticket and pay $170 cash money and keep hunting. I would have had to take off five days work and drive 2000 miles round trip to go to court - and then do it again if I wanted to fight it.

I took the ticket, paid my $170 and hunted two more days and never hunted nebraska again. I am still not sure it wasnt some kind of racket the GW was running. He did give me a half assed receipt.

I have not as of YET. I can guarantee that when I do their photo will be posted on every social platform in my local area and I will call the CO. I was raised to ask for permission to hunt a property, and I expect the curtesy from others to do the same though the answer will be no. The reason being I hunt and my family hunts. I have had a couple different folks ask so far on the new farm.

I will tell you this- if you have a utility based issue- contact their regulatory agency. I am not sure who this is in TN but someone approves their rate case and will change their tune fast. This is coming from a guy who works for a utility and has tuned two others up with this technique on his own ground.

The mentality of blue jean hunters who are dragging a deer against the fur grain tells you everything you need to know their IQ

A great technique is put these pictures on a local/regional hunting page and offer $500 cash post conviction for information on who people are. Lowlives are fast for handouts, especially when it limits their of nefarious competition
