I don't grow too many tomato plants...I think I have 15 right now. I drove 6' oak stakes about 18" into the garden bed about 16" apart and drove the Same amount into ground directly across the bed from those. I tie lines of jute twine from stake to steak about every 8-10" up the stakes. I then take tradition tomato steaks and stake each plant as needed. The jute just gives them something to lean on and I don't need to tie the plants off to the stakes more than once.
