This is what a 2 year old Dunstan chestnut should do

that is awesome.......... well grown.

I've got 5 year old Dunstans that are 15' tall that are not doing that yet. You must have better soil or conditions than I do.

Congrats,

Jack

I think that I'm on the edge of their range in Rochester, NY. There's several left of the ten I planted that keep experiencing winter kill and resprouting from the roots, but most of them have given up the ghost. They looked great their first year from bare root plantings in the spring. And since the past two winters have been mild, I don't expect that they'll do any better in the future. Seeds from local hybrids have taken off though and are doing great in their second year. Nice job on your success!

I have 5 that I planted 2 years ago that I believe were 2 at the time making them 4 years old. Noticed today 3 of the 5 doing the same thing. Excited.
