Maybe. I have personal experience with 3 different middle-aged deer that added almost no inches the following fall. Sometimes they pretty much top out by 3.5.Just think. He will be bigger this year.![]()
Here's a wide 8 I was holding out for this year. He was all over my go to spot the afternoon before opening morning, seen in these pics. These are the 1st and only daylight pics of him I have. Also the last pics. Keep hoping he shows up on a camera sometime. My dad says he had him at 175 yards three days after the pics, but he has 70 year old eyes and we had a lot of 8 pointers around this year.

The one that got away..... Had well over 1,000 trail cam photos of this guy. Saw him once in the flesh. It was my first year bowhunting and I was effective out to 30 yards. I let him walk at 50 the only time I ever saw him in person. Shot or no shot, it was by far my most memorable moment in a treestand. That's why I do this. :)
You can see the wound in this one photo.
I suspect that the broadhead deflected off a rib. That pic shows the exit hole. I'll find a pic of the entrance hit. The wound never seemed to effect him much. I've watched him many times since the wound...fighting, scraping, chasing does. He's none the worse. You can see the wound in this one photo.
How did he not die from that? The down angle must have made arrow miss any gut.
