Plant early maturing soybean and cereal varieties and you will have no problem.

Thanks for your posts on the saya507.I have ordered mine and it shouls arrive around the end of Sept. which is a little late for my liking for planting but still works. I live in central Ms. and have 8-10 acres to plant. Looking forward to planting some type of fall blend with wheat, pur top turnip, rape, winter pea and some white clover to come out in the spring.
Who did you buy from in MS? You’re probably in my area.

They are selling the LMC Ag (It looks to be the exact same machine with a different name on it) for $6,500 For the 78” machine. I should have mentioned this in the earlier post.

There is a short video online. I found it by typing LMC Ag grain drill. The dealer in Mendenhall acted like the other MS Ag locations would have some too.
Same trench. The drill (probably like most drills) are not going to be able to drop 6 lbs seed / acre of just that seed. The metering is just waaaay too small.
But mix in something like pelletized lime or winter rye or.... and calibration is a piece of cake.

Breddick - Did you Spray or prep that field at all?
Yes. Two years ago it was eagle seed beans that did awesome (had to electric fence). But with regular traditional tillage the weeds were horrible within weeks of any ground working as soon as the beans were finished.
Last year just a grassy / weedy field. Too much ground to plant and no drill so it just sat there.
This spring I sprayed with glyphosate and planted beans. Didn’t get an electric fence on the beans so they never made it. I sprayed it 3 times total this spring / summer and it’s smoked right now. Top dressed 200-300 lbs / acre 19-19-19 around the time of this recent planting.
The drill is allowing me to plant exponentially more acres without disturbing the soil.
Still spraying lots of glyphosate but I see that need dwindling next spring.

not really. I set the drill up for shallow planting and feel the majority of the seed was 1/2”-1” deep. Since this drill doesn’t have compaction wheels following the soil is pretty soft / fluffy on top of the seed. I think this has and will help the seeds that are dropped a little deeper. I’m seeing what looks like 100% germination / pop through on my turnips planted with the pelletized lime.

How was the clean up with the lime? We thought of using a filler like sawdust with small seed. My saya507 wont be in until end of september, but here in Ms. I will still have time to plant.
