Strange creature

Small black opossum? Large rat? Someone's pet chinchilla?

Looks like an opossum with that tail. If you are near water or marsh could be a muskrat.

Tasmanian devil ??? I never saw a muskrat with ears that big.

100% possum. Only a face a mother could love.

I never thought of a muskrat. Ears are big and I've never seen any around. But as dry as we are maybe ones looking for a new wet spot.

They are eerily similar. Though I am guessing if you grabbed one of each by the tail you would quickly be able to differentiate the two!
