Stopping bears from taking a bath?

After many hours looking at a water tank this weekend while hunting, I got thinking about my bear issue and them going in the tanks. I'm going to try something this spring to see if it will keep them out. My thought is to add 2 or more 4-5" limbs in the tank. I currently have one limb per tank for small animals to get out but I'm thinking that adding more might make it uncomfortable for them to crawl in. I have nothing to lose, putting in a few limbs will take minutes. Thoughts?

I don't think that will work, but it is certainly worth a try. If you are having bear issues, it is time to apply for a bear tag!

I don't know what else to try. Every year the big bear goes in the tank 2-3 times and pushes out 50 gallons of water!!! I figured adding extra limbs might keep him out.

I think the bear will just pull the branches out of the way, but you never know. Another option would be to put a cement block in the water tank. That would be harder for the bear to pull out of the tank and it should prevent the bear from sitting completely inside the tank.

Currently, I have a 4" in diameter limb with a rock wired to one end in the 100 gallon tank and he crawls in with that. My goal is to add 2 more limbs with big rocks wired to one end. Again, just a thought.

How deep is the tank? A couple inches of cement in the bottom and some rebar sticking out of it here and there. Spaced far enough apart that critters can drink, but not enough that they can get in.

Of course once you do that, it's there for good. lol
