Stock Market is the bottom in?

On Friday I sold cvs, tsc, Zoetis, zoom, Sofi

Bought Nvda, fastly, micron, vertiv, royal carribien

Short term I think it is losing. But we will see,

GE vernova is on fire!

He is trading on FOREX, not trading futures. He didn't make quite what I thought he did, but he did really well and is looking for a beach front condo and a Lambo Urus. Said that would take about 1/5 of what he made. I watched him make $25K in just over 2 minutes last night. I need to work with him more to get a better understanding of what he is doing so I can retire soon.

I've been interested in forex. I've seen a few guys follow the same currency pair for decades and recognize all the patterns. Like printing money.

So he was trading currency based on oil prices? What is his strategy?

Momentum trading has been rather poor the last couple months, and I don't mind spending my work day learning something new. Would be nice to at least know where to start.

Anyone selling and waiting for this slump to end?

I don't sell in dips. I buy on the way down and the way back up. I'm only buying now. I got some more AMZN and TSLA. I have a little cash left in case we dip further, but I'm not liquidating anything now.

I will fill you in when I figure it out and get confident in it.

Excellent. Thanks.

Sell? Now is the time to buy. Whatever the crowd is doing, just do the opposite. Silver has been cut in half, gold down bigly too, PRU, GIS also down big and paying rock steady dividend at or above 6%. It seems oil is about $75/barrel cheaper here vs the Middle East and Asia. That’s a first for me.

Everyone betting on peace in the Middle East is about to get a lesson in advanced game theory. Sometimes you have to attack your allies or yourself and blame it on your enemies to get everyone to do what you want.

The president can limit exports. I think Obama made it that way. Trump can theoretically cap American oil at $100 while the rest of the world zooms past $200. I'm keeping 50k in cash in case something like that happens and tanks global markets.

Bought EWY and VXUS during the dip. Bought Itrades Silver today. Jimmy buffet said gold was for investing and silver for trading. So, I bought the silver that dipped more than gold. I did put more in CEF. Also, scooped up a little softbank. They got a huge project in ohio. See if it's boom or bust.

Doing homework on nuclear. I got 2 ETF's that have good exposure to Cameco. Westinghouse is a big player in nuclear still. Big overhead, big planning and big regulation with nuclear doesn't align with small output plants, atleast in the USA. Westinghouse nuke is owned by cameco and brookfield. I think babcock and wilcox still have a good stake in nuclear apparatus. Heat exchangers, pumps, instruments, etc...

Still think caterpillar and GE verona are still good players.

That sprott gold n silver CEF is a trust? Thinking that may be a long long term keeper. Not sure what that means tax wise.

I just started a position in PRU; that one is right up my alley(low forward PE, big divy, some growth, out of favor). Lightened up on my energy holdings (I think the bull market in crude prices is going to be short lived). Still probably overweight energy.

I wish I could understand and have asked him several times to show me what he is doing, but he shows me similar things to what you post. Just flashes it on his phone and walks away so I don't get a full grasp on it. He watches it dip/recover/dip until it hits a bottom and shows recovery, then he buys in. He usually goes in with an expectation to make $20ish K in 5-10 minutes and closes, but he went in deep on oil twice now and it paid off. Essentially what I have made my entire life working and in stocks on two trades. SMH
Unfortunately I doubt his success will be sustained and reproducible for decades . If so (and he is one of the very rare people who can repeatedly beat the market) he should probably be working for a hedge fund or start his own. More likely, he has been lucky and pain is on the horizon. Hope I am wrong. I am sure he is a smart kid. Not intended to be derogatory just pointing out the statistics on day trading and long term success.

I know what you are saying, and he is aware. Other than 5 big positions that I did not agree with, he has been steady with 70% of his trades in the green. Out of those 5 big positions, he made bank on 4.

I would be the one to FUBAR it.

Wondering when the cork will pop on CVX?

Forex is a completely different market from stocks and ETFs. It doesn't trade the same, and it's affected by somewhat different forces.

For example, USD-NOK is heavily affected by oil prices. High oil prices means demand for Norwegian oil assets, which drives up the value of the currency. Low oil prices drops the value of the NOK.

Japanese yen value seems to be mostly steered by the low interest rates in Japan and the resulting carry trade. People borrow enormous amounts of JPY and then have to sell it to buy dollars, pushing down the value of the JPY compared to the USD. This is probably the easiest pair to trade right now if you follow Japanese interest rates and carry trade cycles.
