Went to a seminar on sodium battery technology. It was presented by a high level GE manager from their Schenectady headquarters. As I almost was reminded yesterday morning with my car a -7 degrees, battery's a temperature dependant. At the 3 or 4 year ago timeframe, their sodium batteries needed to be heated to 300-400 deg Celsius, maybe it was Fahrenheit. Either way, that's a toasty thing waiting for a bad day. MAybe someone else makes a different sodium battery. Good for bulk power, bad for residential in my opinion.
GE Vernova is a not a bad stock. The're getting smarter. They're #2 or #3 in the wind game, In my opinion #1 on steam turbines, #1 in gas turbines overall (big/small and aero), and working hard on the storage game. They also do substations, relay protection, and have lots of R&D going. They looked like crud a few years back, but they're not on their rocky 4 yet......
