130 CEO's on the 16th said in a public statement that they expect earnings to go down. They see a slowing economy.
Nestle laying off 16,000 due to their stated "automation." The biggest number of those to be laid off are in the "safe(?), white collar" group. AI kicking-in in many businesses now - lots more to come. Robotic manufacturing has already cost millions of jobs over the last 25 - 30 years. And now, even more of the "starter jobs" / "entry jobs" are being automated. Fast food and check-outs at grocery stores / big box stores eliminated loads of those "entry jobs" for young people - and even retirees. Efficiency will have an end-point when enough diminishing returns happen due to millions of lost human jobs. AI machinery / robots / programs / software won't be buying food, finished goods, services., homes, cars, etc. I think that's why Jensen Huang - the CEO of Nvidia - replied to a question not long ago at a press conference. The question to him was, "What career path / course of study should young people take today?" Huang's reply ........ "Farming." So .... a return to WWII days when everyone had to grow their own food for the year?? Soon don't need humans to do jobs anymore on a large scale?? Rosy forward outlook from Huang.
Big targets for AI replacement ...... programmers, systems analysts, engineers, data entry & processing jobs, accountants, including CPA's, etc. Businesses don't even try to hide the fact that millions more jobs are going away - they openly brag about it. Take away the buying power of hundreds of millions of people - maybe billions - worldwide, and how does any semblance of a healthy global economy survive??
Save the blanket statements of "Oh ... they're will always be more jobs created." At what pay level??? The majority of people today are barely keeping their nose above water. But the few billionaires are getting richer and richer, and control all governments globally now. Oligarchy is spreading rampantly, and unless you're a person with many millions - or billions - of dollars, tough times are on the way. Even the Bible says that suffering worse than any that humans have previously suffered is coming. A relative few people already control most everything globally. And like some on here like to say openly, "I'm not helping anyone. I earned MY money." (As if everyone else hasn't, or is a lazy, stupid, slug.) Christians all...... correct???
