Stock Market is the bottom in?

If I was not so busy with my move (and I am up to my ass in alligators) I would have a look at a very nice 40 not too far from here. I did a drive by....the the trail in would scratch the chit out of my truck.....and figured I needed my UTV to get back there. I am almost sure it is ideal deer property at a fair price. I simply lack the time to get 'er done. MY idea is to buy these kind of parcels....and lease them for hunting .....as that would easily pay the taxes and provide a small rate of return....while allowing the appreciation for my kin. When I find time I could develop as needed to enjoy for ourselves or to provide a better lease rate.

Still....got this idea brewing for a small shed with a concrete floor.....and a nice kitchen with some decent appliances.....which would be directly connected to a good place to hang and process deer.....and also provide for a walk-in cooler for hanging quarters, etc. An important part too would be a decent toilet room with a shower and a good sink. I think I would like my well nearly attached here....to keep my well warm over winter and provide year around use of water in this small building. Not got sure about HVAC on the entire building, but that is not objectionable either as it so small that it wold not be crazy expensive to do the HVAC. Maybe a mini split?....and back up electric heat when it gets really cold.

I'm thinking of a drive thru door system with maybe ten or twelve foot ceilings and an electric winch with a drain below and water to wash down the area after our gutting and processing tasks. Yes....a stainless table to further processs and maybe some other grinders, slicers, and such. I'm guessing this would take a structure of about 12 x 24 feet or so??? to do the job right. I suppose a person could put a few cots in the game cleaning area if someone wants to stay there....but I also got my 12x20 log cabin and my new home is only 10 minutes away.

What do you think I would spend on this dream kitchen / restroom / game cleaning station/ workroom.?? I'd want to build it right. Maybe a nice patio and fire pit directly out the door.....other ideas??

Anyone seen anything like I say here? Plan??

Saw an ad on Facebook yesterday for a 24x24 garage slab for 10k.
Do you have to run power and drill a well? Maybe pound a point?
Would you do any of the work yourself?
All contracted out and furnished I'd think minimum 30k.

I do have power and I have a slow, shallow sand point well nearby that my wife and I pounded in with an electric Jack Hammer. I think the point needs to be replaced....but I am getting by with it.

I think I would replace it with a better well type and a submeersable pump for better reliability and volume. If I could get this done for 30 K I would JUMP at this project. I do have a nearby home builder....that could be interested in this project. I think I will go talk with him.

I'd be very surprised if you could get that all done for 30k, I'd guess closer to 50k with today's prices unless you did a LOT of it yourself.

I'm in that industry on the manufacturing side (we make components for the skids that make medicine essentially)...where abouts are you?

Yesterday I hit all time highs. Today absolutely obliterated yesterday. Had some really nice gains this week. Broadcom, Rocket Lab, Google all hit new highs this week. I think SOFI also had its highest close ever.

My thoughts on the upcoming FED meeting.
1. They will cut .25% next week
2. Then comrade "inflation is transitory" will say we need more data for additional cuts
3. Everyone is expecting rate cuts will send the market higher, but the move has already been made and when they only cut .25% it will send us down
4. Buy the rumor, sell the news
5. Fed wont cut again in October either.
6. The banking cabal is gonna beat the market down to end September and into late October
7. Towards the end of October the cabal will start buying again
8. November and December see additional cuts and the market see a strong rally to end 2025.

I wont be disappointed either way. I'd like to see a pullback to deploy more ammo.
October has been notorious for negativity over the years. I think they named that trend "the October swoon." I too am waiting to see what October brings. Maybe some good buys??

Picked up some more ASST while it was down quite a bit today. Hope I didn't miss some news that they are filing bankruptcy or something.

Lots of campuses in the conshohocken / king of prussia / west point area.

I did some selling today., Also smashed record high again today.

100 shares of Rocket Lab @ $55 that I bought at $12.50. Looking to own them again under $40-45.
25 shares of Fortinet at $80.50 that I bought at $71
30 shares of MAGS etf at $64 that was up roughly 40%
100 shares of NIO at $6.80 that was up about 30%
250 shares of Ichor Holdings at $17.07 that I bought at $15.85

Had orders in to sell 20 of my 30 Tesla shares. Also tried to sell an additional 50 shares of my $20 Palantir at $175. Looking at dumping my 50 shares of Google tomorrow that I bought this spring for 50% gain, but that one is less certain. I may just hold onto Google and not mess around with it.

Very happy to see SOFI at $27.86 in the overnight. Hoping to plow a bunch of money into SPMO etf if we get a pullback the next 6 weeks.

I mentioned a month ago I started hacking away at PLTR. Having understood the lay of the land, I got bullish on PLTR, even at these prices. I took a look to see if I could tell the story how this went down so far, and I wanted to show how I did it.

1. I started by selling a $165 put. I got paid $183 for that.
2. It dropped to $155, so I had to cough up the dough to buy the shares at $165.
3. Now that I owned them and they were worth $155, I sold a $170 call and got paid $130 for it.
4. This is just the accounting line saying "you own it now, good luck"
5. It finished north of $170, so I had to cough up my shares to the call owner. I got paid $170/share.

6. Because I got sucked in and puked right back out with some gains, I turned around and sold a new put to start all over, but this time with a $150 strike price instead of where I started at $165 on step 1. I got paid $77 for that. I could have been more aggressive and done a $155 or $160, but $77 on $15,000 for two weeks is an income rate of 12%, and that's nothing to sneeze at when dealing with high prices.

7. This is just the accounting line saying "You lost it at a profit, congrats."

So, in that 30 days, I've netted $890 profit between the options income and gain on the stock. I've also reduced my original exposure from $16,500 down to $15,000 on the new put, giving me some protection from a blowdown.

$890 / $16,500 = 5.4% in 30 days.
5.4% in 30 days = 65% annual rate of gain.

All in all, PLTR really hasn't done much other than make some up and down noise from $155-$185. They don't always work this way, but when they do, it sure it nice.

I don’t regret selling pltr. Tempted to sell nvda, but I think I’m hanging on to that one for the long run. Costco and coke as well as T have been doing fantastic for me when I bought them back during covid. Hanging on to those for the dividends.

Not buying much right now though. If the fed does a rate cut, that could make things go up so I am torn.

You guys that trade daily or buy and sell a lot. Do you do anything to offset profits for taxes?

I know I have sold some at a loss on purpose. To get out of them mainly, but it also offsets some of the gain. I don't buy or sell regularly though.

Best thing to do is don't sell if you haven't held the stock for a year or more otherwise the taxes are double for a short sale. You can only deduct 3k a year even if you lost 300k. Patience and entry point prices are key. I preach it but don't practice it like I should. That makes it even worse because I don't follow my own advice a lot of the time. The patience part is where I have a problem.

Disclaimer to my last post. The only account where I'm "gambling" is my own account. I have accounts for my wife and my daughter and I don't jump around from stock to stock with theirs, just mine.

UAN is climbing the past week. It over $90 now. Fertilizer supply and demand is driving up $$…. One analyst had them paying out over $25 in distributions in the next yr . That’s over 25% return!
