Stock Market is the bottom in?

Don't forget the pizza party!
Or the company logo engraved onto a crystal-clear plastic paperweight - for "team members." I've seen this for real ...........

Nothing says you're appreciated more than something of little value that's still advertising for the company. In all seriousness I would hope that they got some kind of recognition though.

I hit all time highs in all my accounts today. Been a very solid week. I think I am gonna take some more cookies off the table before the possible rate cuts next week. Kinda expecting a dip on rate cuts.
I'm thinking the same, Buck. Nosebleed, record high price levels seem like a good time to take some profits ......... and re-deploy that money at better PE's & more into international funds.

There are several BIG pharmaceutical companies near where we live. I can't remember which one, but a bio-chemist gent at one of them discovered a breakthrough treatment for some serious disease. The big pharma company made $$$ billions $$$ from his discovery in drug sales. His "bonus" for his discovery - which was leaked out (I'm sure with great revulsion!) - was $10K. For a multi-billion-dollar discovery, wouldn't you think the company could've parted with $100K .......... or maybe $250K? The measly "bonus" (boner) info got around the local pharma community pretty quickly. The CEO got north of $85 million for his "genius."

Trickle-down economics on display.

I'm in that industry on the manufacturing side (we make components for the skids that make medicine essentially)...where abouts are you?

On the flip side, it would've been impossible / near impossible to make that discovery without the capital investment from the company itself. Lot a nuance in this...but I do agree, more than $10k is / should be due him.

Most companies will require you to sign off that any inventions, innovations or efficiencies that you come up with while working there are the companies property. You’re not entitled to any money the company may or may not make while using their capital. When you sign these you know the deal. Some companies will make it good and some won’t. Just the price you pay for working for someone else.

I’m not into crypto at all but this Henrichs Zeberk I’ve been following a little is talking about an altcoin rally or an other coin rally. I’m kinda keeping track of his accuracy as he publishes forecasts…

Yesterday I hit all time highs. Today absolutely obliterated yesterday. Had some really nice gains this week. Broadcom, Rocket Lab, Google all hit new highs this week. I think SOFI also had its highest close ever.

My thoughts on the upcoming FED meeting.
1. They will cut .25% next week
2. Then comrade "inflation is transitory" will say we need more data for additional cuts
3. Everyone is expecting rate cuts will send the market higher, but the move has already been made and when they only cut .25% it will send us down
4. Buy the rumor, sell the news
5. Fed wont cut again in October either.
6. The banking cabal is gonna beat the market down to end September and into late October
7. Towards the end of October the cabal will start buying again
8. November and December see additional cuts and the market see a strong rally to end 2025.

I wont be disappointed either way. I'd like to see a pullback to deploy more ammo.

ATH are definitely something to celebrate and I appreciate your viewpoints and forecast.
Sold almost the rest of my PLTR today and will keep that cash for a better buying opportunity. I don't usually try to time the market because I'm no good at it, but I also feel like a pull back is coming.

What is everybody's opinion of rural land prices over the next year relative to the stock market? What will the potential rate changes do in the rural setting?
I'm considering moving a significant chunk of available money off of market ATH and into land. I have about 8-10 years until retirement but hope for steady gains as well as additional hunting opportunities.

Can’t hunt on shares of palantir is my opinion! Sure you MAY outgain land but I bet you won’t do too shabby with buying decent land either. I have about 50 times invested in land vs stocks…so maybe I’m not the best source on this matter!

Hard call, but I might do that as well ? If I pull some $$ from the market into farm/hunting land.. I know it’s very likely I won’t regret it !

I’m heavy real estate already, but oh well not concerned!

For sure, even if I lost money on the deal it would be worthwhile to get some more ground. This would likely be a retirement supplement and would need to be sold in 10-15 years if not sooner.

I was just talking to a local realtor friend who I used on a purchase in MN in the spring of 2020, he was telling me about current prices and it appears I'm up 3-4x on that land. Pretty incredible for 5 years. Would have needed to really get lucky in the market for those returns!

I'm heavy too in real estate and don't mind continuing that. My problem lies with selling the land. I get attached to it and likely won't want to sell it to fund my retirement years so I need to keep some in the markets!
My plan is to leave several hundred acres to my kids with a tax free step up in basis and burn through my 401k, pension, SS to live in retirement. We'll see how it works out! 😁

On the other hand...."the trend is your friend". (Hal Holbrook in the movie Wall Street...before he got the axe) Grin.

All I know....is buy and hold works. and... "buy when blood is running in the streets" has proven valuable at times.

I doubt if land in the long run will out grow the 9% that occurs in the Stockmarket, especially if you count compounding, but unless your goal is to be the richest in the cemetery then I think buying land makes great sense. Every few years I have been selling my gains and buying land. I try to keep the worth of land equal to my retirement portfolio, I figure if needed I can sell the land to buy bologna but I am not planning on selling. In fact due to the last year in stocks, I am now shopping for more dirt.

If you dont even care if it appreciates, then absolutely buy land. Hell, buy me some.

I’ve never done an actual comparison of my real estate & stock portfolio over longer time periods. Both have done very well, but the land has been almost hard to believe.

When I first bought land in Iowa for example I paid 1100/acre. It’s 6000-7000 for that type now . Fortunately I’ve bought the combo farms (with good crop ground) so I don’t have to sell it in retirement!

The cash rent will come in every year & we can live off that (along with dividends)…

Note … I do not think it will be the same trajectory for land. I think land is too expensive to grow much in value now .

If a good piece of land came for sale and I thought it was a fair deal I would be all over it. I would gladly sell stocks to buy land. I've made most of my net worth in the last 6-7 years. During that time very little land for sale in my area and never a deal. Should have bought more back in the day. I have a decent stock portfolio, but I'm sitting on a big chunk of cash just patiently waiting for the right piece of land to build a cabin. Getting 4.5% in a variable rate CD and own a pile of US treasuries. I'm perfectly fine not having my land and cabin fund exposed to potential downswings in the market. Missed out on LOTS of potential gains, but I sleep better at night.

If I was not so busy with my move (and I am up to my ass in alligators) I would have a look at a very nice 40 not too far from here. I did a drive by....the the trail in would scratch the chit out of my truck.....and figured I needed my UTV to get back there. I am almost sure it is ideal deer property at a fair price. I simply lack the time to get 'er done. MY idea is to buy these kind of parcels....and lease them for hunting .....as that would easily pay the taxes and provide a small rate of return....while allowing the appreciation for my kin. When I find time I could develop as needed to enjoy for ourselves or to provide a better lease rate.

Still....got this idea brewing for a small shed with a concrete floor.....and a nice kitchen with some decent appliances.....which would be directly connected to a good place to hang and process deer.....and also provide for a walk-in cooler for hanging quarters, etc. An important part too would be a decent toilet room with a shower and a good sink. I think I would like my well nearly attached here....to keep my well warm over winter and provide year around use of water in this small building. Not got sure about HVAC on the entire building, but that is not objectionable either as it so small that it wold not be crazy expensive to do the HVAC. Maybe a mini split?....and back up electric heat when it gets really cold.

I'm thinking of a drive thru door system with maybe ten or twelve foot ceilings and an electric winch with a drain below and water to wash down the area after our gutting and processing tasks. Yes....a stainless table to further processs and maybe some other grinders, slicers, and such. I'm guessing this would take a structure of about 12 x 24 feet or so??? to do the job right. I suppose a person could put a few cots in the game cleaning area if someone wants to stay there....but I also got my 12x20 log cabin and my new home is only 10 minutes away.

What do you think I would spend on this dream kitchen / restroom / game cleaning station/ workroom.?? I'd want to build it right. Maybe a nice patio and fire pit directly out the door.....other ideas??

Anyone seen anything like I say here? Plan??
