I get the lip service of stopping fentanyl. But…if fentanyl is stopped do people think that all the sudden all those people are functioning, productive members of society? I’m going to go out on a limb and say emphatically no. They will just find a new fix or go back to heroin or whatever they were doing. Fentanyl has some small accidental damage but overwhelming it is taking out the trash. I’d have more respect if we just came out and said China, stop stealing shit and we aren’t gonna finance you taking over the world and stop using slave labor, Mexico, close the border and take care of the cartels (newsflash their government is in bed with them so good luck), Canada tight your border and allow foreigners to hunt everywhere.
Getting into the US at the Canadian border is a lot harder than leaving, no doubt.I know it’s not this simple but countries pay a lot more attention to the “in” door rather than the “out” door.
At the U.S./Mex border we screen the inbound probably 99% more than outbound.
(I think thats a mistake for U.S. because shutting off as much of the money flow back to Mexico should be a priority imho.)
My compassion doesn’t have to affect the whole economy, which impacts way more people than people who are addicted to drugs.I hope you reconsider that attitude. People suffer from addiction for a number of reasons. Their deaths are not a good thing. Many people descend into substance abuse and addiction due to being prescribed strong opioids like Oxycontin due to corrupt practices by Big Pharma. Many of the dead are victims, not perpetrators. I hope you find room in your heart for some compassion for your fellow man.
Something will happen between now and midnight to change the tariffs.
Why put in a time to go into effect if you didn't want to cause some type of reaction? It's a game of chicken. Why do you say this?
Fidelity's site is down again, and I'm dying to get to bed, but this mayhem has me feeling like I should stay up and stick it out.

I wish people wouldn’t do drugs. It’s tragic and avoidable and strains families and communities. But magically stopping fentanyl isn’t going to fix anything for an addict.

Of course. You truly think that’s possible??? We can manufacture all the hard drugs we ever need to satisfy the demand. As long as there is demand, there will be supply to meet. We have an f’d up view on drugs that basically excuses, promotes or victimizes users. It’s super easy to not do drugs. Addiction is a choice not a disease.I dare say reducing the availability of hard drugs in our country would be good for the economy and society in general.
