Spring: How Far Along In Your Area?

Phil - My family and friends always called them wild leeks. I think they have the best taste when they're still just shoots and haven't begun to leaf out yet. Stronger taste when small. Venison w/ leeks and mushrooms .............. WOW !!!;)

My bur oaks are starting to leaf out here. Oaks tend to be the last to leaf out in my area so spring is quickly moving along here. Starting to see ag equipment in the fields in prep for planting season which will be in a few weeks more than likely.

The no-till drills and fertilizer/lime buggies have been out in force the last few days and in the last week everything is starting to get really green.

One sure sign of spring here - the County Conservation District's annual tree - sale trees were delivered. I got some serviceberry and American sweet crabapple from them. Nice young trees. They're about 2 ft. to 30" tall with good roots. They'll make good additions along the edge of a pipeline R.O.W. on a sunny slope.
