This is all over the understory of some Hardwoods long edge of field and has berries on it now

that is not poison oak, it is baneberry......... those berries should turn white, with a red stem in a few weeks.

Could you post a link that shows the leaves on the baneberry you are referring to? It must be a different species than the ones in our area. The ones here have coarsely toothed leaves instead of being smooth along the margins like the ones in his picture.

I searched and found these pictures of the baneberry I am familiar with. I just wondered if there is another one.
