Root flare

I received a shipment of fruit trees, it looks to me like the root flare should be at the red arrow I drew in. It appears it was replanted deeper and formed smaller fibrous roots out of the trunk. My concern is that the large root flare roots are curving back up to surface due to being planted too low. Wanted to get some opinions.

Seen severla anty roots like that. Think you'll be ok. Don't look like a ton of roots for a bareroot tree. I'd plant that probably even a touch deeper to get those top roots in some soil. I'd probably prune the tree a bit too based on the rootball size.

Breakup the soil well you plan on putting back in the hole. PRess it down good with your fingers. I try to fan out the roots best you can too. My tree spots are about 4ft wide and 6ft long. ammend, rototill tin, then dig out loose soil and ammend n orotiller down deeper. Sometime do 2 deep sometimes 3. Done like that the roots would be freee to move out some.

I'd easily have 6-8 trees in my backyard that are doing good and looked like yours. I usually ask for smaller trees because the root to wood ratio is better.

I got b118,anty, siberian, m111, and m7 coming in this year. I'll take a pic of each to show the differences.

What rootstock is that?

What rootstock is that?

It says standard rootstock. Some of the other ones I received look better, but those curved bottom large roots have me a little concerned they they seem to be growing upward rather than down or lateral to anchor the tree.

If the upward curving roots are causing concern, snip them off

Looks like the root stock was planted with a mechanical tree planter thus the swept roots at the bottom. No idea why it was planted that deep, the graft looks to be well above the top most roots. I would say plant it as deep as it was when they dug it. Or cut the roots off above the bottom mess, doesnt look like a heavy caliper tree so could probably due just fine without the bottom most roots.
