Rehab of alfalfa/small burnett stand

I have a half acre plot of alfalfa and small burnett that is 80% grass. I would like to spray with cleth next month and then T&M rye and clover. I was trying to avoid starting over, and I like the stand I have for its drought resistance, but I would like to make it more productive. I know I have read here somewhere that you can't really overseed alfalfa into an existing stand, so I thought I might try clover. The existing alfalfa density is pretty low. Is this likely to work? Will the cleth have any residual effect on the rye?

You could wait until fall and spray RU. The then TnM rye and clover. the alfalfa will withstand the RU.

You have a grass plot with some alfalfa and small burnett mixed in it. Spray it with 41% gly and start over. Anything else is a waste of time and money.
