Radishes early

buckdeer1

5 year old buck +
One end of my food plot is not very good soil.I was considering planting a early crop of radishes and then re planting another later batch. I am also going to plant some triticali as we have one ag field in wheat cover crop and another in triticali and the deer seem to always want to end up in the triticali even though they have to cross a road to get to it.

How close do you hunt to the field? Over ripe brassicas seem to have a very pungent odor for quite a while when they're decomposing.

I just was hoping to improve the soil not to worried about smell.Maybe it will cover up my odor while hunting

I have pitched them in the late spring and they were still viable in the fall....a few may have rotted. Same approach- pulling out some N and breaking up the soil
