Question for my buddies.

omicron1792

5 year old buck +
My target buck hasn’t been daylighting much. But he has been out all morning long, till about 9am. It rained last night and he was even out in the rain.

What are thoughts on hunting this afternoon? Is he like us, where he was out late (this morning) so he will sleep in and not come out till later tonight? Or the fact he was daylighting this morning gives him a better chance of daylighting this evening?

About as big of an 8 point as you can get.

What's your calendar like right now? Is this pre rut?

Little early. They rut starting Christmas Day through end of January. But he def looks pre rut

If you have the right wind and can get in and out without being busted, I would hunt. If not, I would wait for a front moving in.

Perfect north wind. Front just moved through last night.

It seems like bucks that are mostly nocturnal that are on that typical bed to food pattern tend to have a circuit that they use. I would hunt today on the chance that he is still in the area but otherwise wait until you have similar conditions again (unless the rut picks up for you).

I would hunt him, especially pre rut. Not crazy about the un predictive rut activity

I’ve never killed a deer sitting at home!

Find a stand that is right for the wind direction and go hunting.

Can’t shoot him from the couch, well maybe you can!
