I dont know, they dont burn the whole open area at one time - 100 acres here and there so there is always some that isnt burned for 18 months or more. Even Tall Timbers Plantation, with some of the best habitat anywhere, still has to do predator control sometimes. Maybe if this place could get a decent quail population established - production might then stay ahead of mortality. I doubt there is a wild covey on private land within ten miles of that place. A lot of cattle country.Sad. One could theorize the strategy they employee for burning may not be conducive to promoting quail?
