I am pre digging my holes this weekend for planting mid March. I mix in aged horse manure with the dirt when I put it back in the hole. When I dig it back out in the spring for planting, the dirt looks great. I have done it this way for about 125 fruit trees and they have all grown 8 to 14ft the first year.
